How to Reduce Face and Body Fat
How to Lose Face and Body Fat
Losing fat whether it’s in your face or stomach or wherever you choose is the same process. You cannot target specifically one given area, but you must tackle the problem as a whole. There are some ways to quickly reduce “puffiness” or “bloating” in your body but in the long term, you will need to reduce overall body fat.
How to Reduce Water Retention, in Your Face or Body
Water retention can cause “puffiness” or “bloating” in your face or body. You can lose this water retention quickly by changing a few of your daily habits.
Limit Alcohol Consumption
This is one of the leading causes of water retention because it does it in multiple ways. Alcohol affects your hormones and inflammation, it also increases urine production which leads to dehydration and increases water retention. Also, alcohol increases bodily inflammation which can add to water retention. On top of that, alcohol is an anti-weight loss pill, it decreases your hormone leptin (the same hormone weight loss drugs increase), and this hormone is what gives you the feeling of being full or not. Alcohol is the opposite of everything when you are trying to lose weight.
Reduce Sodium Intake
Sodium is mostly ingested by humans through salt, often put into foods to preserve or make them taste better. Sodium does cause your body to hold extra water and depending on your sodium sensitivity this could be higher than normal. The more sodium you ingest, the more water your body will hold onto. This may make you look fuller all around and especially in your face.
Get Enough Sleep
Sleep deprivation can cause an increase in the stress hormone cortisol and when your cortisol is high there are many negative side effects:
Lower metabolism
Increased Appetite
Increased Fat Storage
All of these will lead to temporary and longer-term fat storage. Make sure you are getting enough quality sleep to keep your cortisol levels low. Sleep is a powerful ingredient in losing excess fat and water retention.
Eat Less Refined Foods
Cookies, Frozen Dinners, Pasta, etc. all have been refined to taste better and last longer. In the process, they have lost essential nutrients and added more sugar, sodium, and other preservatives. These ingredients will increase water retention and fat storage in your face and body. Try and reduce your refined foods and focus on a more natural diet.
Drink More Water
To reduce water retention, you need to drink more water. When you are dehydrated your body will hold onto water because you are not giving it any, this is your body’s defensive mechanism. In order, to stop your body from holding onto water, drink more water regularly. This will reduce water retention in your face and body. This will also help flush sodium from your body.
Lose Fat in Your Face or Body for the Long Term
The only way to reduce facial or body fat in the long term is to reduce your overall body fat. While all these methods to reduce water retention will work in the short term, in the long run, you will need to reduce overall body fat. This means you will need to exercise regularly, eat healthy, not overeat, and manage your stress levels.
In order to reduce body fat for longer look to increase your metabolism. Gaining muscle mass is a proven way to increase your metabolism for life.
